Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Information
Students (free with UC SHIP, fees vary with no UC SHIP) can access self-ordered swab testing (anal & vaginal swab testing) for chlamydia and gonorrhea. No need to see a clinician first! View the STI self-ordered Lab cost sheet.
Go to the Student Health Center Lab during their open drop-in hours and you can get a urine, blood and/or swab testing in a private bathroom. It’s important to regularly do swab testing of the correct body parts that have had unprotected oral, vaginal and anal sex.
For STI Testing Hours, see the Student Health Center Hours Page.
Important Information
- In order for the DIY STI test to be accurate, the test must be done at least 3 weeks after the sexual activity. If you test before then, you might get an inaccurate result.
- Any UCSC student with concerns about STIs can be seen by a triage nurse in the Student Health Center or call the nurse advice hotline at (831) 459-2591, regardless of insurance status.
- Are you unsure how to ask someone about their STI status? Were you just diagnosed and need more questions answered? Make a wellness coaching appointment with a SHOP health educator. We are more than happy to answer all of your questions.
