Wellness is more than just physical health—it includes your emotional, social, and spiritual well-being too. At SHOP, we offer Wellness Coaching to support you as a whole person. Whether you’re adjusting to college life, navigating stress, or setting personal goals, our trained staff are here to listen, support, and help you take meaningful steps forward.

What is wellness coaching?
Wellness refers to the whole human; it is emotional, physical, social, and spiritual. SHOP works with you to improve your well-being with coaching. We are here to listen, provide guidance, and help you develop action items to accomplish your goals. Wellness Coaching is different from therapy. If you are interested in speaking with a licensed mental health professional, please reach out to our partners at CAPS.
Common wellness coaching topics:
- Adjusting to campus life: navigating your transition to life at UCSC
- Sexual wellness: exploring sexual and reproductive health
- Safer choices: practicing harm reduction and making safer choices
- Getting things done: tackling procrastination and building motivation
- Managing stress: managing stress and finding balance
- Substance use: reducing or rethinking your use of alcohol or other substances
- Staying active: adding movement and physical activity to your routine
- Better sleep: creating healthier sleep habits and routines
- Budget-friendly eating: eating well while sticking to a student budget
- Note: SHOP staff can speak with you about basic nutrition and physical activity. If you have a specific medical condition or require nutritional support, please consult your healthcare provider.
