Collegiate Recovery Community
What is a collegiate recovery community?
A collegiate recovery community is a supportive space for students in recovery from alcohol and/or other drug addiction. At UC Santa Cruz, this program supports the university’s mission through:
- Support meetings
- Counseling and coaching
- Health and wellness services
- Social activities and networking
- Mentorship
- Dedicated space for these services
- Potential sober living housing (on or off campus)
For more information, visit the Association of Recovery in Higher Education and the SAFE Project website.
Why have a collegiate recovery community?
At UC Santa Cruz and across the country, students in recovery from addiction, as well as their allies, are a growing population who need support, resources, and services. Many students also choose to remain substance-free for personal reasons. UCSC values the contributions of these students and has built The Cove to support them.
Without the support of my peers and those who contribute to and help maintain my recovery, I would be lost… We work together to achieve what none of us believed we could do on our own.
